It appears that Apple’s iOS team has a sense of humor. Following the discovery of iPad 3, iPhone 5 and Apple TV 3 references in Apple’s first iOS 5.1 beta, Apple has now added dozens of references to fake products within iOS 5.1 beta 2, such as the iPhone 11, iPad 10, Apple TV 8 and more.
The references, pointed out by Mark Gurman on Twitter, have likely been added as Apple took notice to the rumor mill’s response to leaked product codes, and decided to have a bit of fun with the Apple news community as a result.
In particular, the references include “iPad10,1,” iPhone11,1,” “AppleTV8,3,” and more, comically suggesting products many generations in the future.
The real reason for the inclusion of these fake items, however, is likely to make it difficult to detect new additions, which can provide clues as to which devices Apple may be testing their software on.
