Google has just released a significant upgrade to their Gmail app for iOS, bringing nested label improvements, mobile signatures, a vacation responder and more. A detailed explanation can be found at the official Gmail blog.

– Nested Label Improvements
– (iOS 5 only) A new custom sound for sound notifications
– Mobile Signature and Vacation Responder, accessible via the gear settings icon at the top of the menu view
– Numerous bug fixes and UI improvements
There are also a cool new feature Google doesn’t mention in the change log, namely a new whiteboard-like Scribbles feature, allowing you to open and draw on a canvas with varying colors, brush sizes, etc, and attach it to an outgoing email.
If you’re a dedicated Gmail who really relies on Gmail’s unique features, you’ll definitely want to have a look at this. For everyone else, Apple’s native iOS mail app works quite well, and Gmail’s web interface isn’t too bad either.
