If you’re like me, and have multiple e-mail accounts for different purposes, you may find the fact that iOS only supports one signature a bit frustrating. Not to worry – iOS 5 provides a simple (and somewhat sneaky) way to set up and use a second one.
Using iOS 5’s new “Shortcuts” text-expanding feature, we can easily work around being limited to a single signature by using a few quick shortcuts to do our dirty work. Here’s how it’s done:
Now, to use your new second signature, simply start a new email, tap in your shortcuts one-at-a-time, pressing enter after each one. Note that you’ll need to press “space” after each shortcut for it to expand.
That’s all there is to it! Since my signature has three lines, I just type Sig1, Sig2, and Sig3 on different lines, and iOS expands my shortcuts, spelling out my entire signature with just a few keystrokes.
