Update: iTether has officially been pulled from the App Store
iTether, an app that allows you to use your mobile data plan with your Mac or PC, has surprisingly slipped past Apple’s approval process and been launched on the App Store. I’m sure someone at Apple will be saying “oops” over this, and I would expect it to be removed quite soon, as I’m pretty sure wireless carriers will not be too happy about it.
The app is available in both US and UK app stores (possibly more, I haven’t checked) and I think I’m going to go ahead and download it before Apple decides to yank it from the App Store. This could potentially save you a lot of money, and the people who have already downloaded it say it works well, even though there have been some negative reviews.
iTether (app store link) sells for 15$, or £10 in the UK, and requires you to install a small companion app on your Mac or PC (available here for Mac and Windows ) to make everything work. I’d also caution you to be careful if you don’t have an unlimited data plan, as this could eat through your data very quickly, Even if you do have an unlimited plan, I’d advise caution while using this.
