Steve Jobs Biography Tops Best-Seller Lists, Sells 379,000 Copies In First Week

Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Steve Jobs has easily worked its way to the top of best-seller lists in the US and the UK during its first week of sales, reports The Bookseller, having sold 379,000 copies in its first 6 days.

The book toppled the previous first-place title, John Grisham’s The Litigator, by a figure of more than three-to-one, and is already the 18th best-selling book of the entire year. The biography’s debut was the strongest for any book since November of last year.

Nielsen’s BookScan figures were cited as the source of the report, which do not account for e-book sales at all. Considering that e-book sales made up a significant percentage of the book’s sales, the total sales figures for all versions of the book are likely much higher.

The book is available immediately through Amazon.com (link), or as an e-book through Apple’s iBookstore (link). Sony Pictures has already acquired the movie rights to the Jobs biography, and may be considering “The Social Network” writer Aaron Sorkin to produce the screenplay.
