‘Siri, Start my Car’ – Siri Hacked to Control Remote Vehicle Starter

Siri is pretty amazing just as Apple has offered it, but after last week’s home thermostat hack, many are beginning to ponder even stronger possibilities for Apple’s virtual assistant.

9to5Mac reports that another developer, using the same proxy hack that allowed the Siri thermostat hack, has set Siri up to control his car’s Viper alarm and remote starter systems.

By connecting Siri with his Viper system, the developer can use Siri to lock or unlock his car, pop his trunk, enable the alarm, or even start his car.

As neat as this seems at the moment, however, I feel that this is likely just the beginning – technologies like Siri could soon open up a whole new world of ways to use our smartphones – all at the sound of our voice!

Now all that’s left is for Apple to see the light and begin allowing Siri to interact with third-party apps and devices. Check out the below videos to see it all in action – the first video shows Siri starting the car, and the second shows Siri locking it.
