Siri Hacked to Control Lights, Curtains, Ceiling Fans & More

Siri Hacked to Control Lights, Curtains, Ceiling Fans & More

Today’s been a great day for Siri hacks – using Siri to control your Mac, voice-control your TV, and now, command your lights, ceiling fan and curtains. It’s a great day for home automation.

A new Siri hack has surfaced, showing a developer using Siri to control some lighting, close his curtains, and even controlling a ceiling fan and a desk lamp.

If there was ever a question about Siri’s potential usefulness for home automation, this should answer it nicely. This follows earlier demonstrations showing Siri used to lock and start a car and control a home thermostat.

It’s a pretty amazing thought that we could soon be using Siri to manage almost all aspects of our lives, from giving us advice on weather, to turning on our lights, to warming up our cars on a cold winter morning.

I look forward to what Siri has in store for the future, but more importantly, I look forward to Apple approving Siri to be used for these sorts of purposes. Come on, Apple! The future is now, don’t keep us waiting!
