Research in Motion, creators of the Blackberry smartphones and tablets, have announced their expansion into the mobile security market, reports Reuters. The company plans to release a mobile security app, called Mobile Fusion, which is set to launch in late March 2012.
The software will be available on iOS and Android and the official press release states that RIM is trying to “bring together” its Blackberry Server Enterprise Technology with mobile device management onto a single web based console.
RIM’s Blackberry Playbook has disappointed regarding its sales, and Blackberry’s expansion into the security software market could suggest that they are trying a different approach in order to gain the edge over their competitors.
