Talk about a post-PC era. It has just been announced, according to 9to5Mac, that the traditional Genius Bar set up in Apple Stores is going to be revamped. Instead of using Macbook Pros, the “geniuses” will now use iPads to deal with customer issues, order new parts and more.
The Macbook Pros were used to access software called GCRM, which was what allowed the “geniuses” to help customers and advise them. Apple have now found a way to port the software to the iPad, however, eliminating the need for the MacBook Pros.
The new iPad setup should greatly facilitate the job of the “geniuses”, as they will no longer be tied down to one fixed place. The iPads will allow them to consult with customers across the store, so orders and repairs will processed more quickly. With Macbook Pros, there was also a limit to the number of “geniuses” you could have due to the room they took up. Now however, using iPads, you could potentially have 20 or so “geniuses” in one store.
