In addition to a rumored iOS 5.0.2 release later this week, German-language blog Macerkopf reports that Apple is also working on iOS 5.1, which they claim will bring a number of new extensions and abilities to Siri.
What’s most exciting about the rumor, however, is what Apple reportedly has in store for iOS 5.1. According to the report, Siri will be getting a lot of attention, including support for the following new commands:
• Take a picture
• Make a video
• Switch on/off WiFi
• Switch on/off BlueTooth
If the report is accurate, this could set a fantastic precedent for future updates to iOS 5, with Apple continually working to improve Siri with new features. Personally, I’m hoping for the ability to integrate Siri into 3rd-party apps.
No release estimate was provided for the iOS 5.1 update, and we’re viewing this report through skeptical lenses, as the blog does not have much of a track record when it comes to Apple rumors. Still, it does bring to light exciting new possibilities for Siri, which I hope come true.
