Update (10/10/2013): Instructions for iOS 7 can be found below, which officially supports both male and female voices without any unwanted side effects.
While it was possible to change Siri’s voice gender in iOS 6. it previous required the user to change his or her region settings, potentially affecting Siri’s accuracy. Unlike iOS 6, iOS 7 officially supports both male and female Siri voices in most if not all regions, without the potential issue of affecting accuracy – it’s just as easy to make the change, and you won’t have undesired negative consequences.

Siri’s voice varies depending on region. In the United States and Australia, Siri uses a female voice, but in the U.K., Siri has a nice male voice that sounds a bit like a butler (voiced by The Weakest Link’s Jon Briggs). Since the setting is regional, it’s quite easy to change – just follow these simple steps:

It’s worth noting that changing the default Siri voice on your device could affect how well Siri understands you, as Siri is trained to work with particular accents. We’ve found that using the male voice in the U.S. tends to provide accurate results in most cases, however. (Note: The preceding paragraph only applies to iOS 6).
