Google has given their full backing to Android firms who are involved in lawsuits, reports Reuters. Eric Schmidt, the CEO of the technology giant, stated “we tell our partners we will support them.” He then gave an example of HTC’s ongoing dispute with Apple, claiming that “the Apple thing is not correct”.
Schmidt, currently finishing a three city Asian tour in Taipei, clearly wants to forge a strong relationship with their main partners, Samsung and HTC among them. Steve Jobs was quoted in his biography as saying that he wanted to “destroy” Android, but at the moment, it seems that Google’s smartphone platform is getting more and more established.
Schmidt’s mission in Asia this week was also to reassure Android companies that Google’s earlier purchase of Motorola would not be a direct threat to their companies. It is rumoured that Google will try to create some of their own hardware, and so it was crucial for Android that the situation was clarified.
