There has been speculation, some even here on this site, that Apple may be planning to allow Siri to run on the iPhone 4. It’s been a bright shining beam of hope for those of us still “stuck” with our iPhone 4. Unfortunately, MacRumors has posted a story dashing those hopes… No Siri for us!
Apple had made it clear from the beginninng that Siri was iPhone 4S only, and that was it. No discussion. End of story. But recent reports of hacked iPhone 4 devices capably running Siri, and other reports that Apple was testing Siri on the 4, led to speculation that they might relent on the “4S exclusive” rule.
However, Michael Steeber posts an Apple reply to a bug report which states quite clearly that Apple isn’t planning on supporting Siri on older devices:
Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue: Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices.
So, those of us who just know their lives would be immeasurably improved by having Siri to hang out with will just have to save their nickele and dimes, and wait patiently until they can buy a 4S and be united with their dream girl.
