Apple Removes 1st-Party Texas Hold’em Game from App Store

In what could be considered a surprising move, Apple has removed their only iOS game, Texas Hold’em, from the App Store, reports MacRumors. The game was first released for the iPod classic back in 2006, and was introduced as one of the first games on the App Store in 2008.

Whether the removal was down to lack of downloads or the huge increase in third party apps is not clear, but it is likely to be the latter. Almost all of the main video game titles are on iOS, with companies such as Electronic Arts and Gameloft also making iOS specific games.

I doubt it will be  a big loss, as there are plenty of poker games still on the store, but it could be a sign that Apple are really trying to focus on the operating system itself, and not so much on the software that runs on it, leaving that up to third party developers.
