While it’s been said before that iOS users buy more apps (and pay more for them) than Android users, a new research note puts the figure into stronger perspective – Apple controls up to 90% of all money spend on mobile applications!
According to a note provided to investors by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, reports The Loop, the Android Market only accounts for around 7% of app revenues, while Apple takes between 85-90%.
Even though the Android Market will continue to grow, Munster predicts that Apple will continue to control over 70% of mobile app revenue over the next 3-4 years.
Also interesting is that, according to Munster’s observations, only 1.3 percent of apps downloaded from the Android Market are paid apps, whereas 14% of Apple App Store apps are paid.
