With the public release of iOS 5 set for Wednesday, October 12th, many are wondering whether there will be an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak released, and when the next iOS jailbreak will come out.
Throughout iOS 5’s developer testing, a jailbreak has been possible using redsn0w, but that jailbreak has been tethered, meaning you must use redsn0w to boot your device anytime you restart it.
Fortunately, jailbreak hacker i0n1c, who is known for bringing the untethered jalbreak to iOS 4.3.x, has confirmed through Twitter that there will, in fact, be an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5, although it’s unclear whether or not the new jailbreak will work for the iPhone 4S.
