Sony Pictures Acquiring Movie Rights For Steve Jobs Biography

It appears that Walter Isaacson’s forthcoming Steve Jobs biography is going to be made into a feature film, as Deadline reports that Sony Pictures is working on $1 to 3 million deal with Isaacson for the rights to produce the title.

I’ve just learned that Sony Pictures is making a hefty deal to acquire feature rights to Steve Jobs, the upcoming authorized biography by former CNN chairman and Time Magazine managing editor Walter Isaacson.

Sony Pictures is likely to be a good match for the film, considering the excellent work they did turning the business book The Accidental Billionaires into the popular Facebook film The Social Network.

Steve Jobs and Apple have already been feature topics in a movie called Pirates of Silicon Valley, which describes the early years of Apple and Steve Jobs up to his return to Apple in 1997. Jobs has also been portrayed in the 1996 PBS documentary “Triumph of the Nerds,” and its 1998 sequel “Nerds 2.0.1,” documenting the development of the Internet, as well as the third episode of the 1992 BBC TV series “The Machine that Changed the World.”

No word has been given on a possible release date.
