One of the cool new features coming to iOS 5 is AirPlay mirroring, which allows you to wirelessly stream your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S to an HDTV using the Apple TV. iLounge reports that game developer Firemint is capitalizing on this by adding a new “Party Play” feature to their popular Real Racing 2 HD racing game for iOS.
The new feature will allow you to to use AirPlay mirroring and wireless multiplayer within the game, and will let up to 4 players race together head-to-head by showing each player’s screen on your TV in a split-screen view.
One downside is that the host player must be using either an iPad 2 or the new iPhone 4S in order to enable the new split-screen mirroring, as the processors in older devices can’t handle it. An update to Real Racing 2 ($5, App Store Link) and Real Racing 2 HD ($7, App Store Link) is expected to arrive by October 12th (just in time for the iOS 5 launch), enabling the new feature.
