Pixelmator 2.0 To Launch Tomorrow

Pixelmator, a popular and affordable OS X image editing app, will be launching its second major version tomorrow, bringing a host of new features, as well as full support for Mac OS X Lion.

While Adobe Photoshop has long been a popular image editing app, many people can’t justify the expense, or don’t need all of the features that it offers. Pixelmator offers the majority of functions available in Photoshop for a fraction of the price – just $29.99.

Version 2.0 of the app includes support for OS X Lion’s Full Screen mode, Auto Save, and Versions, introduces a new healing tool resembling Photoshop’s Content Aware Fill, and adds vector drawing tools.

All of these new features will come at a cost, however – Pixelmator 2.0 will increase in price from $29.99 to $59.99, although it will keep a promotional price of $29.99 for a short while after its release as Pixelmator hasn’t decided exactly when the price increase will go into effect.

Pixelmator 1.6 is available now on the Mac App Store for $29.99 (Mac App Store Link), and those who have purchased a previous version of Pixelmator from the Mac App Store will be upgraded to Pixelmator 2.0 for free.

For those that don’t yet have Pixelmator, now would be a great time to make your purchase and lock the price in at $29.99 before it increases. You can find more about the upgrade at the official Pixelmator website.
