If you’ve managed to get an invitation to Google Music, Google’s cloud-based online music streaming service, you may be interested to know that there is now an official Google Music app for iOS! The app is called gMusic, and is available now from the App Store ($1.99, App Store Link).
The app was developed by Interactive Music Solutions, and is the first native Google Music app for iOS, allowing you to access your Google Music account. You can stream up to 20,000 songs through the service, and Google Music is a free service, compared to the $25 per year you might pay for iTunes Match. One positive note, however, is that Google Music doesn’t occupy any space at all on your iOS device.
One caveat, however: It can take quite some time to upload all of your music to Google’s cloud, since Google Music doesn’t offer the same music matching as Apple’s iTunes Match service.
Still, if this is an idea that excites you, (and you aren’t interested in waiting for Google to come out with a free Google Music app for iOS), the app costs $1.99, and is available now ($1.99, App Store Link).
