Electronics trade-in site Gazelle has seen a record number of blackberry trade-ins over the last month, reports CNET, citing the iPhone 4S as the most significant factor behind the surge.
Aside from the iPhone 4S launch, Gazelle points out their Blackberry trade-ins spiked following Blackberry’s service outage earlier this month as well. Gazelle chief Anthony Scarsella stated the following:
In the grand scheme of BlackBerry [trade-in] growth over the past month, it can be pretty much entirely attributed to the launch of the iPhone 4S.
In addition to the spike in Blackberry trade-ins, Gazelle also saw a 72% jump in Android trade-ins from Sprint customers, which is notable considering that Sprint offered an iPhone on their network for the first time ever this month with the launch of the iPhone 4S.
