As we reported back in July, the new version of Growl, a massively popular notification app for OS X, has just been updated to version 1.3, and is now available in the Mac App Store ($1.99, Mac App Store Link).
The new app has been completely rewritten, and sports a brand new design. The new version of Growl is completely compatible with the previous version (and apps that used or supported previous versons.
Growl 1.3 also includes a number of nice new features, such as a new menu bar icon for pausing and activating notifications, a new preferences window (that even shows your entire notification history), a new Rollup features that collects notifications you’ve missed while you were away from your computer, and a new set of themes. You can also now forward notifications to another Mac.
In addition to Rollup and the new networking features, the app also includes the following new features:
The formerly free app does now cost $1.99 (App Store Link), but considering it’s usefulness, and the fact that it just underwent a complete rewrite, the price is more than justified – a small price to pay for a useful little app. Check out the app’s new website for more information.
