AT&T Servers Fail Under iPhone 4S Activation Demand

I’m not sure why this is still news, since it’s happened every single iPhone launch to date, but AT&T’s activation servers are once again having trouble keeping up with the demand for iPhone 4S activations, reports MacRumors.

The iPhone 4S has now launched across the entire U.S., and AT&T is at the absolute peak of simultaneous activations. Many users receiving a message telling them that they’ll have to wait a certain amount of time before they can activate, and many activations are failing altogether.

While AT&T has had similar problems before, it’s worth noting that other carriers have been running into similar problems today as well, including Japanese carrier Softbank. No similar problems have been reported for Verizon or Sprint in the US.
