AT&T has just issued a press release announcing that they have now activated over a million iPhone 4S units as of the end of the day yesterday – just five days after its release. This follows previous reports that AT&T activated a record number of units on it’s launch day last Friday, and news that Sprint experienced all-time record sales due to the iPhone 4S launch.
AT&T attributes the milestone to their faster data network, as AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega said in his statement, “It’s no surprise that customers are clamoring for iPhone 4S and they want it to run on a network that lets them download twice as fast as competitors’”.
Personally, I think it’s a bit more accurate to state that AT&T reached this milestone because the iPhone 4S is an incredible device, and has been extremely popular due to the impressive hardware Apple has packed into the device. You can read the full press release over at AT&T’s media site.
