Following yesterday’s report that Apple had taken down the Apple TV 4.4.1 software update for “bricking” customers’ Apple TV’s, forcing them to restore through iTunes, Apple has now fixed the issue and re-released the update.
The update contains minor bug fixes and optimizations, and addresses an issue affecting a small number of those using the 4.4 update requiring them to connect to iTunes before using their updated Apple TV for the first time.
This is the first update to the Apple TV 4.4 update released on October 12th, which brought support for AirPlay mirroring for the iPad 2 & iPhone 4S, as well as Photo Stream, movie trailers, and content from the NHL and Wall Street Journal.
The update is available now through the “software update” menu on your Apple TV.
