Apple has launched a new pilot program through their three San Francisco retail stores, enabling customers who place orders through the Apple Online Store to pick up their purchases at a local Apple Retail Store of their choosing.
Rumors began surfacing earlier this week suggesting that such a program would launch soon, and Apple took their online store offline earlier today in order to implement the new program.
This new ship to store program is a pilot program, and has so far only been rolled out at Apple’s San Francisco retail stores, although it is expected to be extended to more retail stores in the future.
Orders for items that are in stock at the customer’s selected Apple Retail Store will be available for pickup the same day, and orders that are not in stock will be subject to the same shipping times as orders shipped directly to customers.
