Although the idea of an Apple Television has been around for some while, with recent comments from Steve Jobs suggesting he “finally cracked it,” Fortune reports that Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Muster believes these units may already be in production.

…we believe Apple is investing in manufacturing facilities and securing supply for LCD displays. These displays could range from 3.5″ mobile displays to 50″ television displays.
More recently, in Sept-11 we met with a contact close to an Asian component supplier who indicated that prototypes of an Apple television are in the works.
Munster has claimed that Apple will enter the television market since February 2009, and suggests that a connected television set would add about 3 percent to the companies 2013 revenues.
Despite Munster’s claims, which are still nothing more than speculation, the idea of an Apple HDTV does seem very appealing – a single, unified device that could significantly simplify the television at as we know it. Further, now that iCloud is out and about, Apple could be in a better position than ever before to revolutionize yet another market – and one much in need of a revolution,
