Speaking at the Bank of American Merrill Lynch Media, Entertainment & Communications conference, recorded by Fierce Wireless, Sprint Nextel CFO Joe Euteneuer appeared to suggest that Sprint’s will soon offer the iPhone on their mobile network (as 9to5Mac reports).
Euteneuer was quoted as saying the following:
Steve [Elfman, president of Sprint’s network operations and wholesale,] and his team have been relentless on watching the existing network to make sure that we are spending the capital we need and to make sure we don’t create a bad user experience–irrespective of all the rumors.
Further, addressing the demand and network usage that the iPhone could bring to Sprint’s network, Euteneuer optimistically stated, ““we’re going to stay ahead of it.”
It’s been rumored that Sprint will be getting at least one iPhone in October (whether that will be the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 5 is unclear), as well as the iPad. The question that remains is: Will they be able to make good on their promises without instituting data caps like AT&T and Verizon did?
