A curious new report from the folks at Pocketnow.com claims to reveal the first ever publicly shared picture taken from an iPhone 5. The image was posted on Apple engineer Anton D’Auria’s Flickr page, and the metadata suggests it was taken from an iPhone with an 8-megapixel camera.
Besides showcasing someone’s delicious sushi, the image holds many curious details. Despite the image’s EXIF data showing that it was taken by an “iPhone 4” with an 8-megapixel camera, it’s very likely that the image was actually shot from an iPhone 5.
Also interesting is that the lens that recorded the image was of a difference size than the iPhone 4’s built-in camera, sporting a 4.3mm f/2.4 lens rather than the iPhone 4’s 3.85mm f/2.8.
To make matters even more interesting, the GPS data from the image suggests that the picture was taken near Apple headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, California. You can check out the full EXIF data, which is contained within the original file, found here.
