Kinetik is a free iPhone app that wants to get you closer to the best and most popular iPhone apps. The app lets you discover other apps as recommended by your friends and from the Kinetik community.
A clean grid interface greets you and presents rows of recommended apps that you should consider downloading. Clicking through to any of the app icons will provide you with further details about the app, such as: who is using the app, how many people shared the app, comments about the app, and a full description of the app. You can then click through to download the app from the App Store if you so choose.
The app becomes a great asset once you login with your Twitter credentials. This unlocks many new features and lets you see what apps your friends are using (providing they’re on Kinetik), you can browse categories of apps, and you can also rate/share apps with the rest of the community.
Probably the most useful feature of the app is the the trending area that lists the most popular iPhone apps of the past 7 days. This is pretty much a chart that features some of the best apps as voted on by the community. This feature lets you discover great and new apps that you may not have heard of before. Next to each app is the number of shares the app received and the list features a total of 20 apps so you will be hard pressed not to discover a special new app.
The Verdict
What’s there to ponder? Kinetik is free. It looks great. It wants to connect you with great apps. Did I mention it’s free?
Rating: [rating:5]
Pros
- It’s great.
- Discover apps easily.
- Beautiful UI.
- The app is super quick too. No lag.
- Free
Cons
- It would be nice to filter the trending screen with recently released apps. This would result in a better mix of apps.
- It would also be cool if the app could scan your currently installed apps but I’m sure if this is possible from a technical point of view.
