Brazilian iPad 2s Hitting Stores In December

iPad 2s produced and assembled in Brazil will be hitting stores in December. Aloizio Mercadante, the Brazilian Minister of Science and Technology, confirmed the news with a Brazilian based news site.

At first many doubted, but it will be the first time that the company will produce iPads outside Chinese territory. We are taking a big step for digital inclusion in the country.

The Brazilian venture is a joint effort between Foxconn and the Brazilian government and will see iPads assembled in the city of Jundiaí, 60km north of Sao Paulo.

It is expected that Apple will receive approximately 15 million iPad 2 units to be sold through Apple.com and via Apple Stores during the third quarter of 2011.
