A new report from BGR suggests an updated release timeline for Apple’s forthcoming iOS 5. According to the report, Apple will be releasing iOS 5 beta 8 this Friday, and that they’ll release the gold master build around September 23rd.
This goes along with yesterday’s report suggesting that the iOS 5 gold master would be released to manufacturers around September 23rd for flashing onto the final iPhone 5 hardware.
Once the gold master is released, Apple will ask their carrier partners to accept the gold master as being free of major issues, after which it will become available on final hardware in mid-October. It’s not entirely clear what will happen if iOS 5 is not approved by carriers, but it’s likely that it would be loaded onto handsets anyway, and Apple would simply rush an update to fix any issues.
