Apple’s recent support document detailing the connection options and limitations for the new Thunderbolt Display contains an intriguing reference to a Late 2011 iMac in its compatibility chart.
According to the document, the iMac (Mid 2011 and Late 2011) can both support up to two Thunderbolt displays. The interesting part about this, however, is that Apple has yet to release a late 2011 iMac.
Considering that Apple recently released new iMacs in May, a late 2011 iMac does seem a bit strange, although it possible that Apple will simply speed bump their iMac line with newly available Intel processors, as a recent Late 2011 MacBook Pro rumor suggests.
It’s also possible that the inclusion is just a fluke, although that seems a bit unlikely to me, considering that it’s not a simply type, but rather the inclusion of an entire product name that’s not supposed to be there.
