Adobe announced earlier today that their Digital Publishing Suite will include support for Apple’s upcoming iOS 5 Newsstand feature. Newsstand essentially serves as a storing place and organization hum for magazines and digital subscriptions in iOS 5.
Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite will enable publishers to create and offer digital editions of magazines and newspapers that will automatically deliver the latest content directly to the Newsstand app on users’ iOS devices.
According to Adobe, compatibility with Newsstand will debut soon after Apple’s publicly launches iOS 5, which is expected in the coming weeks. Applications built with Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite will allow content producers a better way to merchandise and deliver their content with support for push notifications, automatic delivery, and icon covers displayed on the Newsstand shelf.
I’m thrilled to see Adobe making an effort to support Newsstand – this is an excellent step in Newsstand becoming the one-stop-shop for users to view and read all of their subscription content in a single place.
