Although the next-gen iPhone hasn’t yet been announced, demand is sure to be extremely high – a factor that is increased by the iPhone 5’s release later in the year than usual. A new report, however, suggests that nearly half of Android users might switch to the iPhone 5, which would boost Apple’s market share tremendously!
Piper Jaffrays analyst Gene Munster cites a recent survey in suggesting that Apple’s marketshare could more than double following the release of the iPhone 5. The survey of 214 smart phone users found that 64 percent of surveyed people planned to buy the iPhone 5 as their next smartphone, meaning that Apple’s currently 29% market share could leap all the way up to 64%.
The survey also conveyed that only 47% of Android users surveyed said that they would but another Android handset, which suggests that the iPhone 5 might bring a lot of Android converts over to Apple’s team.
