Following Yesterday’s rumors of the iPhone 5 possibly arriving on Sprint’s cellular network, the stock market went insane, with traders driving the value of the stock up an entire 10% on the rumors.
In addition to traders significantly boosting the value of Sprint’s stick, analyst Gene Munster estimates that Sprint will be able to sell around 6 million of these devices, which will be of significant benefit to both Sprint and Apple.
The significance of the iPhone 5 becoming available on the Sprint network is that Sprint offers lower data costs, and is one of the few remaining carriers that still offers truly unlimited data plans, as well as the fact that the iPhone 5 being available on Sprint will make the device available to that many more customers, and even more significant when you consider that currently, Sprint is an extremely Android-focused carrier.
