As the impending release of Apple’s iPhone 5 draws ever nearer, retailers are beginning to take action by reducing the price of existing iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS stock in an attempt to get rid of inventory.
Canadian carrier Telus has begun offering the iPhone for just $99 CAD with a 3-year contract, and reports are coming in that Best Buy will begin offering the iPhone 3GS for free with a 2-year contract on August 22.
These types of price cuts are typical in the weeks leading up to an iPhone release, and I would not be surprised if US carriers such as AT&T and Verizon began discounting their remaining inventory as well.
