Lovers of multitouch displays, rejoice! Perceptive Pixel has just unveiled their latest creation – the world’s largest capacitative multi-touch display, with a high-def resolution of 1920 x 1080.
The massive display also boasts a great touch response time of <1ms, and has been built with reliability in mind. The displays were created with classrooms and corporate boardrooms in mind (think massive digital white-board), but potential military applications have also crossed Perceptive Pixel's minds. What's more impressive is that the entire whopping 82-inch display fits in a casing that's just 6 inches deep. David Slobodin, VP hardware engineer at Perceptive Pixel stated the following:
No other company can deliver the precision and performance of our best-in-class optically bonded pro-cap displays,” – “Our new 82″ multi-touch LCD represents a technological breakthrough that sets a new standard for the display industry.
Unfortunately, there is no word about the price of this new display, but if a display this size can be done in a cost-effective manner, then Apple needs to get in the zone and figure out how to confortable add a touchscreen to my MacBook Pro!
