The iPhone 3GS has been around for over 2 years now, but a new report suggests that it may soon meet its end. Indicating that UK carrier Orange has stated that the iPhone 3GS will no longer be available through them, the report suggests that Apple may be planning to discontinue the aging smartphone.
Although the report suggests that its likely that Apple will soon discontinue the iPhone 3GS, many have disagreed, with some even suggesting that the iPhone 3GS may become Apple’s new “budget” smart phone to address the market for lower cost handsets.
Although Orange UK is reportedly extremely low on stock of the iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3GS shipments are reportedly diminishing to the United States as well, this doesn’t necessarily indicate that the 3GS will be discontinued – it is also extremely possible that Apple will simply update the 3GS, condensing the line to a single new model.
