Apple is once more turning to their frenemy for life, Samsung, for assistance with their electronics. According to DigiTimes, Apple has suspended orders from LG for iPad 2 displays due to quality issues.
It’s also claimed that LG was unable to meet Apple’s requirements for orders in July and were 1 million units shy of Apple’s target.
The main quality concern is with the quality of the iPad 2 backlights that LG have supplied.
Apple will now turn to Samsung & Chimei Innolux to provide them with iPad 2 display panels.
Apple had hoped to increase production from 3 million units per month to 4 million per month but LG was unable to supply Apple with the increase in demand.
It remains to be seen if Samsung will continue to provide Apple with iPad 2 parts for the forceable future or if Apple will look elsewhere once Samsung helps them with their production requirements.
The relationship between Samsung & Apple continues to be strained with Apple recently winning a court order to ban Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 from entering the European market.
