As the iPhone 5 continues to approach its public release date (which many expect will occur on October 7 or 14th), questions regarding how it will affect Apple’s iPhone shipments and sales figures are beginning to arise. At least one analyst remains extremely positive, claiming that Apple will be doubling their iPhone production for the second half of 2011, and producing a total of up to 58 million handsets in the process.
The claim comes from FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berget, who’s projection reflects data from Apple’s manufacturing partners to suggest that iPhone shipments wil indeed grow about two-fold between the production of existing iPhone 4 units and the new iPhone 5.
If Berger is correct in his presumptions, iPhone shipments will hit all time records for both the second and third quarters, and this this boost in production will likely set Apple up for two record-breaking financial quarters in a row.
