Building on his earlier similar claims, Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek now claims that Apple already has the necessary deals in place with video studios and networks to launch their own Netflix-like video subscription service.
He further claims that the service is a part of Apple’s cloud-based video services, which recently surfaced in the iOS 4.3 update for the Apple TV. Misek ultimately claims that this movement is leading up to Apple’s release of an HDTV.
Further, according to Misek, this means that Apple now has unannounced deals with most (or even all) of the studios and TV networks, which could make them a serious contender in the streaming media battle.
Personally, I’d be thrilled for Apple to release a streaming media service! Could this be why they’ve held off so long in adding Hulu support to the Apple TV?
