Following earlier rumors of a possible September 7 announcement of the iPhone 5, Japanese tech blog Macotakara reports that Apple will not only be releasing the iPhone 5 in the near future, but also the iPad 3 and a cheaper iPhone 4S!
While rumors of an iPhone 4S and a September iPhone 5 release are to be expected, the more unusual claim is that the iPad 3 could come in October. The claim is unlikely for a variety of reasons – not only did Apple just release the iPad 2 earlier this year (and has just recently been able to keep up with demand for the popular tablet), but further reports are suggesting that an updated chipset – presumably Apple’s A6 processor – won’t be ready until some time next year.
Macotakara also claims that their sources have provided information to them surrounding an iPhone 4S that’s based on the current CDMA iPhone, but the report was not at all clear on whether or not the iPhone 4S would be the only device released, or if it would be released as a cheaper model right alongside the iPhone 5.
As for me, I’m filing this report under “I” for “ignore.”
