“The Logic Is Sound” For Apple To Introduce A HDTV

Maynard Um, an analyst with UBS Investment Research, believes the “logic is sound” that Apple will eventually enter the HDTV market with an offering of their own.

In a note to investors on Monday, Um stated that..

We believe Apple is most likely to target the fusion of TV and (set-top box) market, the connected TV, as it enables Apple to add value through its innovative hardware/ease of use, iTunes ecosystem and provide a better overall consumer experience.

Apple HDTV Concept

The bottom line value of Apple entering the lucrative HDTV market is estimated to be in the $100 billion mark. Such a splash into HDTV would see Apple further competing against the likes of Samsung and Sony in the larger electronics market and not just in the computing market.

An Apple HDTV is not a new rumor. It is said that Apple is actively exploring the possibility of introducing this line to their range and some even predicated that we may see an Apple branded HDTV unit before the end of the year.

However that’s unlikely.
