In the wake of the disappointment that many experienced when Lion failed to drop today, as many expected, it appears that there may be some good news! A new report suggests that both Lion and new Macs could arrive next week. This supports previous rumors suggesting a July 19 launch date.
The report cites a number of tech pundits with possible inside sources that seem to allude to this fact. Additionally, next week naturally seems like a plausible date for the release, considering that it didn’t happen today.
While none of the sources really provided much evidence or argumentation for their claims, the idea that new Macs (and OS X Lion) could arrive next week certainly isn’t all that unlikely – considering that they only had two weeks in July left to pick from, the 50/50 odds in their favor seem pretty good!
Next week is also the week that Apple will hold their 3rd quarter earnings call, so if this rumor is true, it’ll be one doozy of a week for the folks at Apple.
As for me, I believe that the release of both Lion and new Mac hardware (new Mac Minis and new MacBook Airs are both expected soon) could literally happen on almost any day from this point forward.
