It’s been more than three years since Steve Jobs took to the stage at Macworld and pulled the world’s thinnest laptop from a brown envelope and present it to the world. Check out the SteveNote below and watch as the Macbook Air makes its debut appearance.
The first generation of the “wireless” Macbook Air boasted a 1.6 GHz or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, came with either a 80GB standard or 64GB SSD HD, and had 2GB of RAM. The first generation was priced at $1,799 for the entry level Air.
Today we have two flavors of Airs with 11″ and 13″ starting at just $999.
It is expected that a Macbook Air refresh will arrive in July with the inclusion of ultra low voltage Sandy Bridge processors and Thunderbolt I/O.
My personal favorite blurb from Jobs’ presentation is his statement: “And flip it down, there is a full size keyboard”, eh….. yes Steve, thank you for including a keyboard 🙂
