According to the International Data Corporation’s Worldwide Wuarterly PC Tracker, Apple, ever successful, has laid claim to 10.7% of the PC market in the second quarter of 2011.
As the US PC market continues to shrink, Apple’s Mac sales have done nothing but consistently grow, even enduring difficult economic times in which consumer spending has been significantly decreased. The below chart shows that Apple sold over 10% of all PCs sold in Q2 2011, bested only by Dell and HP, both of whom offer far more models than Apple, many of which are sub $500 netbooks:
IDC’s PC tracker does not include smartphones or tablet PCs in their figures – just imagine how Apple might have hauled out in the numbers if the iPad were figured into the equation!
