To iOS developers, the XCode tool iOS Simulator can come in handy for testing their latest apps prior to actual testing on an iDevice. One clever developer has posted a video of iOS simulator running on a 21.5-inch screen. It’s beautiful. Read on.
The below clip shows the tool running on a 21.5-inch Dell ST2220T 21.5″ multi-touch IPS monitor, and the entire demo is very impressive. While this sort of multi-touch setup is ergonomically awful (imagine how your arm would feel after very long), it does make an interesting statement about the potential for possible touch-based Macs in the future, as that seems to be where things are headed.
Apple has thought about the idea before, having obtained patents to make it possible, but clearly there’s more thought to be had. Phil Schiller and others have come out in reference to the ergonomic problems with bring multitouch to current forms of laptops and desktops, with Steve Jobs referring to the problem as “Gorilla Arm.”
Still, I’m intrigued. Your thoughts? Sound off in the comments!
