According to the latest NPD sales numbers, the Mac is indeed (as John Paczkowski so elegantly put it) kicking ass – serious ass. Mac sales for Q2, ending in June, are expected to rise well above PC sales numbers once more, according to a report from AllThingsD.
Apple’s Mac sales have already risen 15% in just the first two months of the quarter, making a significant jump. And if Apple really does release new MacBook Airs (or Mac Minis, or Mac Pros) next month, those numbers could really rocket forward in a HUGE way. MacBook Air refreshes, due to the immense popularity of the impossibly thin notebook, always boost sales in a pretty tremendous way, and will now do so even more as they continue to gain popularity.
If you figure in the July release of OS X Lion, then you really have an exciting figure, as Mac OS releases have always, historically speaking, served to accelerate sales. And OS X Lion, due to both the significance of its improvements and additions, as well as its immensely low price, will likely perform above average in this respect.
