Speaking at Wall Street Journal’s AllThingsD, Kara Swisher probably struck a cord when she shared some of Steve Jobs’ comments on Android while interviewing Eric Schmidt, namely that Android spies on its users, and that Jobs called the platform a “probe in your pocket.”
Swisher went on to say that Steve Jobs told her that she needs to start writing more stories on Google and privacy, and also how an Android Phone is like having a “probe in your pocket.” When she asked how he knew this, Steve Jobs said, “Oh, we could do that too, we we don’t have a search engine to pull it off.”
These are certainly some fun comments from Jobs that are likely to incite some manner of rage and controversy. Schmidt responded by denying that Android spies on users: ”We don’t take the information your phone gathers about location and suck it into search. We don’t suck it anywhere!” Schmidt went on to say, “There is a certain amount of information that goes back, but it’s made anonymous and it’s never used for search.”
Don’t you just love it when grown men argue over things in the most childish of possible playground manners?
